Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: What should I bring for swim class?

A:  All participants will be required to wear a mask while in change rooms and walking on deck.  Goggles are mandatory.  Bathing suit  ( Or, clothing that is only meant to be worn in the swimming pool - no street clothes. no jeans) . Towel and indoor shoes are recommended. Towel service has been suspended under further notice.

Q: Will change rooms and showers be available?

A: Change rooms will be available with strict social distancing measures in place 6ft/2m apart .  Masks must be worn while in change room.  Showers will not be available at this time.

Q: How often does the facility get disinfected/cleaned?

A: After each group is done we close facility to clean for 15 minutes.  This includes the change room pool deck area and equipment used.

Q: Will swim instructors be wearing masks?

All of our teachers will be required to wear face shields.  As there is a breathing hazard when masks get wet none of the instructors will be wearing masks in the water.

Q: Are group classes available?

A: We will be offering "POD" classes with up to 4 participants (from their own social bubble).  We suggest that participants be close to the same age and level.  The total cost of the lessons will be the same irrespective of whether there are 1, 2 3 or 4 participants. 

Q: What if I can't make it to a class? Do I get charged?

A: You can make up the class by emailing swim@jaquatics.ca . Subject to availibility.

Q: What classes will you be running?

A: All classes will be offered.  However if a child is unable to be self sufficient in the water and needs to be held or has behavioural issues that will cause others around them to be at risk, we will require a guardian to be present in the water to help assist.

Q: What program will you be offering?

A: At J Aquatics we offer Red Cross Swim Kids program.  We have adapted the Swim Kids  program using Lifesaving Society's Covid-19 instructional safety standards.

Q: I want to work for JAquatics how can I apply?

A: All staff are required to have at minimum their NL and Standard First Aid CPR C and AED.  To teach you will need your Red Cross WSI.  Send resume to Martin@srcentre.ca  and emarton@prosermanjcc.com

Q:Who can I contact if I am having trouble booking online or I can't get through to someone over the

Q:I'm not sure what level my child is in. How can I find out their level?

Please book an assessment ahead of time.

Q:I want to be a lifeguard. How old do I need to be in order to take the course?

A:  15 years old by the time of their exam. (New standards as of 2020 )
